Description:
Kilometro Rosso Science and Technology Park has embraced sustainability by measuring its Carbon Footprint in line with ISO 14064-1:2019. This supports the shift to a low-carbon economy and boosts business competitiveness. The assessment covers greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from energy use, transport, waste, and supply chains, using a Lifecycle Impact Assessment (LCIA) approach. The methodology includes data collection, stakeholder engagement and impact analysis to identify reduction opportunities. Key emission sources include energy consumption (34%) and commuting (28%). Measures like solar power, geothermal systems and efficient lighting have already cut emissions, with further plans such as green Power Purchase Agreements and improved public transport. Kilometro Rosso also promotes sustainability among its 85 resident organizations, encouraging eco-friendly mobility, waste reduction, and green procurement. As a sustainability leader, it advocates for a shared ISO 14064-based framework to help other innovation hubs measure and reduce emissions, contributing to global carbon neutrality goals.
